First show of the autumn winter season is Dance Edits this allows you to see some of the work that has been created by the artist of Dance City in short performances with various dance styles throughout.

Anima | Thursday 3rd October | 7:30pm | from £8

Joli Vyann’s Anima explores two performers pushed to their limits with a unique style of dance and acrobatics.
This also includes live music throughout areas of the show, I feel this one would be more recommend for the ages of 8+ even though due to it having that circus spin on the choreography. A younger child may find it difficult to understand what’s going on as it’s based on boundaries and emotion.
Twilight Dances | Thursday 17th October | 7:30pm | from £8

‘North East based graduate company Fertile Ground. Created by Artistic Directors and former Rambert dancers Renaud Weiser and Malgorzata Dzierzon, four dancers are accompanied by a live performance of Schubert’s beautiful Death and the Maiden performed by international string quartet Quatuor Voxpopuli‘
Up, up and away | Saturday 19th October | 1pm & 4pm | from £8

Up, up and away is a great family show that is coming to Dance City near the end of October and it’s not one to miss. Highly sprung have done amazing job with the choreography and detail in this show from playful design in costume, puppetry, and set with the introduction of a unique flying machine that allows the action to take place right above your head, they really have went to ends to make the show feel like it’s around you, MAGIC!
There’s also a beautiful story behind the show which I feel will engage the parents as-well as the kids. The show is all about joe finding himself and I hope you’s all can come along to see the outcome.

Old Kent road will be making a return with their tap dance show Oscillate that explores human interaction and the effects of miscommunication in relationships.
HELM | Saturday 30th November | 7:30pm

HELM is showcase of dance from Yorkshire Dance and TIN Arts’ pioneering Talent Hub project, a professional development programme for dance artists from the North East of England and Yorkshire with a learning disability or autism. I’d highly recommend this show as I am a true believe of regardless if some having an illness or disability it shouldn’t define them and stop them doing what they want to do in life as growing up classed as disabled I never let that stop me and I love it when I see others doing the same thing.
