Elswick pool is now back open but does it look any different?

As the pool closed in 2015, it was like a part of the community had been removed. The pool was many local’s childhood memories and yesterday the doors opened back up to the public. Many bringing their children to show them the place they spent most of their days splashing around.

I joined the launch opening day to see how the pool looked and to my astonishment it was like a blast from the past, it looked all very similar but scrubbed up very well.

The water was packed with families playing, splashing and swimming. I sat in the shallow end with the girls only being young and still not comfortable swimming. However, they had access to free arm bands that the staff provided to keep them safe. The water was very clean and warm.

Price List:

Single Swim:

The pool will also be offering swimming lessons as the time goes on, I used to do swimming lessons here when I was a little girl and I’m sure they will be just as great as they where back then.

If your child isn’t too confident in swimming or your planning a holiday next year and your children could do with that little extra learning then these lessons are for you at £20 a month or £50 for 10 lessons.

They also had locker room and changing facilities.

Ladies and Men have their own changing area, this photo below of the changing area was taken from the ladies changing are, they had bigger changing rooms for families which you could fit your prams in for anyone with younger children.

The locker’s were a decent size but I did use two as we had our own bags each and big winter coats. Lockers cost 20p each.

There’s also an area at the back of the lockers where they have dryers and mirrors.

At the end of the swim that we thoroughly enjoyed and brought back so many childhood memories. The girls ran up the stairs to the park, just like I used too.
