Carlisle Park review

As the sun begins to make an appearance and the summer holidays are numbered, Families are begin to make the most of their days and adventure making summer memories.

One park, I would recommend to add to your list of summer days out is Carlisle park which is in the centre of Morpeth and is a award winning park. From Chinese vans, to ice-cream, riverside walks and a paddling area. Carlisle park (Morpeth) can offer so much to make your day a great one.

Today, we had a little trip to Carlisle Park which is located on the southern bank of the River Wansbeck in Morpeth, Northumberland. The park has the William Turner Garden, an aviary, a paddling pool, an ancient woodland, tennis courts, several bowling greens and a skate park. Which means there is plenty to do for all ages and especially an great place for the kids to explore with 2 park areas for the smaller and bigger kids, a pool/splash area and rowing boats, The kids can have one hell of an amazing day.

The rowing boats cost £5 for half an hour.

Wheelchair friendly:

It’s also buggy and wheelchair friendly in most areas with also toilet facilities which include a disabled toilet and baby changing area, I would say the toilets were very clean for a park and regularly checked.

Feeding time:

If your spending all day there and wanting to have lunch, There is also plenty of picnic space to take your own food or you can indulge at the Chinese (fortune cookie) or ice cream van that is on site. There is also plenty of little pubs around the park such as weather-spoons or the steakhouse where you can dine. Not forgetting you are in walking distance of the town centre.

Riverside community health project:

We went along here with Riverside Community Health Project. Big thank you for a great day. If you live locally in the Benwell area, give them a follow. They have a great support system in place. They support children to raise their aspirations and improve their life chances. Support parents to counter disadvantages. Support women to counter disadvantage and influence decisions that affect them, their families and communities.

They also have many activities on over the summer which you can check out on this link:

They also have plenty of training courses on, I recently done my mental health course with them which was a great course:
