Last night, We experienced the challenge of the escape key Newcastle , after being locked in one of their rooms and completing the challenge minutes after the hour was up, it was safe to say you have to have your thinking cape on when entering one of their three rooms.

The witch room:

Escape the hangman’s noose in this eerie escape game based on the dark events of Newcaste’s history and played next to a real witches’ burial ground.

The plague room:

This is the one we took part in. I can’t give much away but I screamed, I stressed, I laughed and complete. This room is overlooking a real life plague pit in Newcastle. St. Andrews church is literally the back end of this escape rooms, where over 50% died from the Black Death at the time. This made the room more scary when locked in, your always on the edge thinking what could be around the corner or jump out on you. Not that I can give out much clues, sorry!! Top secret.

When we where there, we also learnt about the horror of the Black Death in this atmospheric escape game. before heading over to the escape key, I tried to learn about the plague and things that could help with the room and challenge as I hadn’t had a history lesson in about ten years. However, this room was more about communication with one another in the group, lots of mathematic work and just thinking logically. I learn’t that mathematic was defiantly not one of my strong points.

Armageddon room:

An asteroid is hurtling towards Earth and only you and your team can save the day. You don’t want to miss a thing in this fast paced tense escape game set in a Cold War bunker.

Location:

The location was very easy to find and accessible. The escape key Newcastle is based on St Andrew street which is in the location of China town, facing the Newcastle arms and down from Rosie bar on the other side.

If your driving in, you can park near by at st. James park or in the gate.

You can get buses into town which means you have a 5 minute walk from the town centre.

Prices:

They recommend up to six people per escape room for the best experience, however we can take bigger bookings.
